I’ve known Greg since we were teenagers (which, I hate to say, was a LONG time ago!) We met when he was a freshman and I was a sophomore in college and he took a rock climbing class that I was teaching. We went on to climb together a bunch, until he quickly got way too good for me. Janine and Greg started dating only a few years after that (yeah, they’ve been together a LONG time - as many wedding guests were fond of pointing out). I was delighted when they asked me to shoot their wedding. The thing I always remembered about Greg was how quick he was to laugh and smile, and that hasn’t changed at all. I think he’s smiling in just about every photo - and with good reason - Janine was a beautiful bride and it was wonderful to see them finally tie the knot. Their backyard wedding was a great touch - intimate and personal. The weather cooperated most of the day, until a bit of rainfall towards the end of the reception, but that didn’t dampen anyone’s spirit, especially their adorable little boy Chi, who took the opportunity to tear around the yard gleefully while everyone else hid out on the covered patio. Thanks so much to Greg and Janine for inviting me to be a part of this special (and long overdue) day.

I had a great afternoon wandering around South Lake Tahoe with Jason and Vivien for their engagement session. We started out at their beautiful cabin in Myers - Jason has spent the last two years renovating it and it looks great! We headed over to Fallen Leaf Lake with their dog, who wanted to be in ALL the photos. There was still tons of snow up there, so we got some fun shots in the snow, and of course an impromptu snowball fight broke out, with no prompting whatsoever on my part… Then we headed over to Emerald Bay for some sunset shots, including a little Trash the Dress session with a dress Vivien purchased especially for the occasion. We didn’t really trash it, since we’re planning on using it again for part two of their session in San Francisco in a couple of weeks-  I’m looking forward to another great session with such a fun-loving couple!

Mary and Dave - AMPED!

April 30, 2010

Engagement photo season is in full swing, and I had a great time wandering around the Capitol with Mary and Dave - everything is green and lush and we had a perfect evening for it. These two were lots of fun - they definitely have the carefree, laughing, smiling look NAILED. They might have been a little self-conscious when they pulled out a can of Amp and asked if they could get a shot or two with their favorite beverage, but I always love when a couple brings some special items to give their photos that touch of personality and uniqueness. Looking forward to their San Francisco wedding this summer!

The 2010 wedding season started off with a bang with Robin and Will’s winter wedding at the Vizcaya. We had a lucky break from the rain (and were even luckier to still have some very dramatic clouds) just in time to do the family photos and bride and groom portraits before the ceremony (Robin and Will opted to see each other beforehand, which meant they got to do a "first look" in the courtyard of the Vizcaya - a great place for it). They were a joy to work with - easy-going and fun, and… man, they can dance! It’s no wonder, since they met at a swing-dancing class, and I think they invited just about everyone from that class, since I’ve never seen such a group of fleet-footed guests. Needless to say, my second-shooter Jeff Aldeghi and I had a blast capturing the talented bride and groom and their friends and family dancing it up at the reception. Thanks to Robin and Will for including us in your wonderful day!

Erika: These are beautiful. I love #1 & #4!

I just can’t say enough good things about this couple and their wedding! We had so much fun on their engagement session in Old Sac (Cassi said she wanted it to look like something out of an Anthropologie catalog, and sent me samples for inspiration - love it!) and I knew their wedding would be a blast. I was NOT disappointed! The bride, groom and bridal party were super-stylish: all decked out in full J. Crew splendor. The details were great as well - Origami sculptures by Gabe’s brother Cameron, lots of snapshots of Gabe and Cassi at all ages, a guitar for the guests to sign (Gabe is a musician) and delicious cupcakes in place of the usual wedding cake. Everything about the wedding exuded personality and style. I’ve also go to give Cassi’s mom a serious "Mother of the Bride" award - she made us feel welcome and appreciated the whole time and was always making sure everyone was having a great time - thanks Deb! My second-shooter Marci and I had a great time and were honored to be part of such a fabulous day.

Tammy: I always impressed on how you make people look so relaxed in your shots. Just like there were just hanging around and you happened to be strolling by or something.
